 SOME OF THE ISSUES… OUTSIDE THE PROBLEM:

The story so far…your son/daughter has been spending too much time on the computer, chatting and playing games with friends. Now a letter has arrived from School, saying they are worried too…What is going on?

WHO WOULD YOU DEAL WITH THAT PROBLEM?


ON THE FRINGE OF THE PROBLEM:

Two friends are laughing and being rude about a classmate, because of something they have on their phone. A friend tries to help and tell them where they are going wrong. Later that day, a teacher asks to speak to the helpful friend…

WHY DO YOU THINK THAT IS?


CENTRAL TO THE PROBLEM:

A birthday present of an Ipad only creates problems: it’s not just the late night chats, its the games and the photos as well. Why are my children not listening?

Reasons…

Passwords should never be shared.

Children have no internet access

Definitely should be removed or blocked

image[1989]Week 5: Workshop 3

Yesterday was a very busy day for Yr 5, with Sports day in the morning and Workshop 3 after dinner. Were they flagging? No they were not!!!

We had important decisions to make on casting, performance and staging and thank you to the Year 5 team and the pupils for your understanding creativity and input.

What we have been able to do, is to take some of the practical exercises from the workshops to incorporate them to the presentation, to communicate our ideas, information and messages in an interesting way for the audience.

Physical Theatre, ensemble, script work and improvisation all feature.

Next week is gonna be good!!!

Presentation: Thursday 6th July at 2.45pm.

All Yr 5 parents and guardians are invited to see the presentation, which has been a learning experience for me and something I value highly. The project had two main objectives, to give the pupils a drama workshop experience to develop their creativity and communication skills and to explore the important issues of e-safety and new technology. You should have received your invitation by now. There will be time for a short Q & A about the project so we hope to see you all there…thank you.

TONIGHT’S THE NIGHT….

Yr5 E-Safety Education Programme

Parent Meeting 10th May 2017

Year 5 ‘My name is Tom’ e-safety Education programme.

During the summer term, Year 5 are taking part in some very exciting workshops exploring the issues of e-safety which will include…

– An introductory Drama session for Year 5.
– Followed by 4 weekly ninety minute sessions using drama to understand the issues, improvise and share problem solving and a ‘public broadcast event’ for the school community to develop new strategies.

Throughout the workshops the pupils will be operating as actors to explore these real issues and distance themselves from their own situations, in order to address real problems. Alan Spence, Project Director, is holding an initial meeting with Parents to outline the key objectives of this project and to share experiences and concerns as well as discussing ways to overcome these issues.

This will take place tonight 10th  May at 5.30pm in the upstairs hall at Sketty Road.

Children welcome as staff available to help…
